J.D. moved to Maine in the late 70s right out of high school and began working in the commercial fishing industry, first lobster fishing ,gillnetting and finally offshore bottom trawling. As much as he enjoyed his time on the water he decided to move ashore and go back to school. He started attending classes at The University of Southern Maine in 1981 and working nights on the sanitation crew at Cozy Harbor. He soon moved to night supervisor and then production supervisor. The University of Southern Maine soon became The University of Cozy Harbor. Working closely with John Norton JD learned the business and grew into what is now his position as Ground Fish Category Manager , covering all buying ,selling and processing of ground fish.
J.D. and his wife have two grown daughters, Jessica and Andrea. He enjoys a few rounds of golf occasionally but being out on Casco Bay in his boat is where he likely can be found on the rare off days one gets in the seafood business.
